The birds...they're gone. Is the tree what's causing everything? I've heard that trees can sometimes contain spirits.

Playing on fear? And with Edith being "dagnabbit that's enough!" she dispelled the whole thing?

Well, not the whole thing, but some of it! =)

Yeah, it seems like the ghost leaves if someone conquers their fears.

Either that, or the ghost doesn't like people screaming. But that seems counterintuitive for a ghost that preys on fear...

Aaaaand that’s how my friends would react to my dying puns. I don’t think the trouble would have left though. It probably would stop to berate me for a second.

I'm sure the rustling is a normal natural forest thing and not plot important. That's why I took the time to add it to the comic right

I spent an unforgivable amount of time on the creases in that specific panel, thank you for mentioning them lol

They are being haunted by a pizza. It was murdered by humans in life and now it seeks revenge. It is attempting to rebuild a facsimile of its former self, but they keep stealing its corpses and thus it will never accumulate a full 8 slices in a perfect circle and finally be able to move on.

As a pizza it holds mastery over desire. Thus it is not granting fear, but instead removing hope. Edith and Zander were hoping to improve their reputations as fearlessly confronting anything. Sadie hoped that nobody would get hurt. Theo hoped to prove himself useful in a less confrontational way, but can't even use a phone...

As for the tree? Well, sometimes after eating a pizza, people go on car trips. Sometimes they suddenly need to stop and run behind a tree. What happens there will forever be a mystery. *wooOOOoooOOOooo...*
