What a form. A scary one, some might say.

There should be more real backgrounds here instead of gradients. I'll add them in during summer break, if I remember. And redraw all of chapter 1. I don't think I ever mentioned it anywhere but I intend to do that too! Many things to draw in the summer, which will be here soon, but the next three pages or so will suffer

Nope! Go back to baby-form plz!

Also, I don’t necessarily think you need to add in (more backgrounds) for these pages if you didn’t have time. They all look sufficiently atmospheric and interesting. But you should of course do what you feel is best. :)

The baby, despite its faults, might be better than this!

It probably stands out more to me because only I know what it would look like with more details. The triangular panels can get away with it I think but the bottom left panel could use a little more.

Meh, they still act like a baby, I don't see the difference. Ignoring physical variance is shape-shifter 101. Mind-shifters are where it starts getting tricky...

A manbaby man is somehow less endearing than a manbaby baby.

    That was a scary morphing...
I think redrawing the first chapter is something most artists probably want to do for their comics so if you have the time, you should go for it

Redrawing might take a while, but I think improving the anatomy and perspective in the beginning will make things easier for new readers.

That is even more scary than the baby ghost one and way creepier. The question is, why?

He might be less scary if there was no rope or bloody cloth. Without that he could be a normal guy!

Honestly I think the baby form is creepier. After all, that is a... criminal who was hanged, i guess? just pretending to be a baby and hanging out with some kids. Kind of weird.

Alternatively: a bunch of teenagers kidnapped a man whose ghostly form looks like a baby

I don't have the exact number for him, but he's taller than Theo, who is 6'6". As for his face, well, in the form he is right now it might be better to leave the cloth on.

Did being dead make him deranged? Or was he always like that? Will we find our exactly how he died(suicide or murder)? Is he permanent cast in the story? Will we see his non-ruined face? He’s in his pajamas... poor guy. Whether it was suicide or not, I’m sorry for him. I hope he’s not actually insane and/or evil. That ruins his likability unless he’s a villain(in my opinion.) thought there are exceptions.

I credit most of Roswell's behavior to him being a scared hermit for such a long time. Maybe during year 1 of ghosthood he was more mature and a better listener.

At the end of Chapter 2 he said he was murdered by Helsirvente, and with a name that important, there are bound to be more details in the future. I think those are the only questions I should answer, the rest give too much away haha

You can’t tell me if he’s going to be main cast?

He's a side character, since the story is following the kids and not him. The answer to whether or not he is a permanent part of the cast gives away a lot considering the kids want to find him a new home, ie get rid of him.

As a webcomic author, I'd advise against redrawing an entire chapter. I understand the feeling of loathing one's old artwork and wanting to fix it, but a lot of the delays in updating my own comic came from me doing adjustments to pages from the first two chapters (Heather's design was really inconsistent and looked downright disgusting in some of the earlier panels). I think my time would've been better spent had I worked in new pages instead. And besides, seeing how the art improves over time is a really enjoyable part of reading a comic, that only adds to the experience IMHO, and you'd be taking that away by redrawing.

My favorite mangaka currently is Hirohiko Araki. The early volumes of his most successful manga, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, have a straight up crappy artwork compared to the sheer awesomeness of the more recent ones, and you know what? I wouldn't trade it for the world. I think it'd take away from the experience to not have the not-so-good art of earlier volumes. But that's just opinion, of course, you do what you think is best. I did fix my own comic, after all.

(On a side note, you must read JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, in case you haven't already, it's the best manga ever made. You could also start with the anime.)

Ugh, it happened again. ComicFury really should ask people if they want to login before posting a comment.

Edit: specially because guest comments are uneditable and undeletable.

Redrawing would be a very slow process. It wouldn't become a full time effort until I build up a buffer to last a year, at the very least. If I successfully redraw the entire thing there would still be links to the originals for the sake of comparison.

I do appreciate seeing my favorite comics slowly increase in quality over time, but in this case I think the quality is so poor that it turns off new readers. When someone stops an archive binge before reaching the newest page, they usually stop during Chapter 1. Maybe they've bookmarked it to continue later, but for me when I stop a binge I stop at the end of the chapter, not 5-10 pages before the end. It could just be that the story is not for them, but the visuals can't be helping either. eh idk maybe I'll change my mind once I see how much work it takes
